Ask for forgiveness

In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful

Al-Baqarah
(2:286) Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. “Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden likes that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”

A’lay Imran
(3:133) Rush towards the forgiveness from your Lord [Rabb] to a paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth which is prepared for the righteous people;
(3:134) Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people – and Allah loves the doers of good;
(3:135) And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins – and who can forgive sins except Allah? – and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know.
(3:136) Those – their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow [in Paradise], wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers.

An-Nisa
(4:17) Repentance with Allah is only for those who do something evil in ignorance and repent as soon as they realize it; Allah will pardon them.  Allah is the Knowledgeable, Wise.
(4:18) There is no repentance for those who persist in their evil deeds until death approaches anyone of them and he says: “Surely now I repent.” Similarly, there is no repentance for those who die while they were still unbelievers; for them We have prepared a painful punishment.

(4:31) If you avoid the heinous sins which you have been forbidden, We will do away with your small sins and cause you to enter a place of great honour.
(4:32) Do not envy that Allah has given some of you more than the others.  Men will be rewarded according to their deeds and women will be rewarded according to theirs.  Ask Allah for His grace.  Surely Allah has perfect knowledge of everything.

(4:48) Surely Allah does not forgive shirk [associating any partner with Him]; and may forgive sins other than that if He so pleases.  This is because one who commit shirk with Allah, does indeed invent a great sinful lie.
(4:49) Have you not seen those who speak very highly of their own purity [even though they are committing shirk].  In fact, Allah purifies whom He wishes, no injustice – even equal to the thread of a date-stone – is being done to them.
(4:50) See how they invent a lie against Allah, and this in itself is enough to show their manifest sin.

(4:105) Indeed, We have revealed to you, the Book in truth so you may judge between the people by that which Allah has shown you. And do not be for the deceitful an advocate.
(4:106) And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.
(4:107) And do not argue on behalf of those who deceive themselves. Indeed, Allah loves not one who is a habitually sinful deceiver.
(4:108) They conceal [their evil intentions and deeds] from the people, but they cannot conceal [them] from Allah, and He is with them [in His knowledge] when they spend the night in such as He does not accept of speech. And ever is Allah, of what they do, encompassing.
(4:109) You may plead for them in this life, but who will plead for them with Allah on the Day of Ressurrection?  Or who will be their defender?
(4:110) And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
(4:111) Whoever commits a sin, he commits it against his own soul.  Allah is Knowledgeable, Wise.
(4:112) But if anyone commits a crime and charges an innocent person with it, he indeed shall bear the guilt of slander and a flagrant sin.
(4:113) If Allah’s grace and mercy were not with you, a group of them was determined to lead you astray.  They led astray none but themselves, and they cannot do you any harm.  Allah has revealed to you the Book and wisdom and taught you what you did not know; great indeed is the grace of Allah upon you.

(4:116) Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray.

(4:152) As for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers and do not discriminate between any of them, We shall soon give them their due rewards.  Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Al-Ma’idah
(5:9) Allah has promised those who believe and do good deeds that for them there is forgiveness and mighty reward.

Al-A’raf
(7:55) Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors.
(7:56) And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good.

At-Tauba
(9:102) And [there are] others who have acknowledged their sins. They had mixed a righteous deed with another that was bad. Perhaps Allah will turn to them in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
(9:103) Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah ‘s blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
(9:104) Do they not know that it is Allah who accepts repentance from His servants and receives charities and that it is Allah who is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful?

Hud
(11:1) [This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Acquainted.
(11:2) “Do not worship except Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a warner and a bringer of good tidings,”
(11:3) And [saying], “Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every doer of favor his favor. But if you turn away, then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great Day.
(11:4) To Allah is your return, and He is over all things competent.”

Al-Furqan
(25:64) And those who spend [part of] the night to their Lord prostrating and standing [in prayer]
(25:65) And those who say, “Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering;
(25:66) Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence.”
(25:67) And [they are] those who, when they spend, do so not excessively or sparingly but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate
(25:68) And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity, nor kill any soul which Allah has made sacred, except for a just cause, nor commit fornication – he that does this shall be punished for his sin,
(25:69) and his punishment shall be doubled on the Day of Resurrection and in disgrace he shall abide forever,
(25:70) except the one who repents, becomes a true believer, and starts doing good deeds, for then Allah will change his evil deeds into good, and Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
(25:71) And he that repents and does good deeds, has truly turned to Allah with good turning.

Az-Zumar
(39:53) Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”
(39:54) And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.
(39:55) And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive.

Ash-Shura
(42:5) The heavens might have almost broken apart from above those who are [elevating Allah’s creatures to His rank], if the angels would have not been glorifying their Rabb [Lord] with His praise and begging forgiveness for those on earth. Behold! Surely it is Allah Who is the oft-Forgiving, most Merciful.
(42:6) And those who take as allies other than Him – Allah is [yet] Guardian over them; and you are not over them a manager.

(42:30) And whatever strikes you of disaster – it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.
(42:31) And you will not cause failure [to Allah] upon the earth. And you have not besides Allah any protector or helper.

An-Najm
(53:31) And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth – that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward] –
(53:32) Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones. Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He was most knowing of you when He produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him.

Al-Muzzammil
(73:20) Indeed, your Lord knows, that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you. And Allah determines [the extent of] the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur’an. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking [something] of the bounty of Allah and others fighting for the cause of Allah. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakah and loan Allah a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
