Prophet Shu’aib

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Ash-Shu’ara
(26:176) The companions of the thicket (The dwellers of the wooded dales of Madyan) denied the messengers
(26:177) When Shu’aib said to them, “Will you not fear Allah ?
(26:178) Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
(26:179) So fear Allah and obey me.
(26:180) And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
(26:181) Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.
(26:182) And weigh with an even balance.
(26:183) And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.
(26:184) And fear He who created you and the former creation.”
(26:185) They said, “You are only of those affected by magic.
(26:186) You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.
(26:187) So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful.”
(26:188) He said, “My Lord is most knowing of what you do.”
(26:189) And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.
(26:190) Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
(26:191) And indeed, your Lord – He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
(26:192) And indeed, the Qur’an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.

Al-Ankabut
(29:36) And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu’aib, and he said, “O my people, worship Allah and expect the Last Day and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.”
(29:37) But they denied him, so the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone.

Al-A’raf
(7:85) And to [the people of] Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu’aib. He said, “O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. So fulfill the measure and weight and do not deprive people of their due and cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. That is better for you, if you should be believers.
(7:86) And do not sit on every path, threatening and averting from the way of Allah those who believe in Him, seeking to make it [seem] deviant. And remember when you were few and He increased you. And see how was the end of the corrupters.
(7:87) And if there should be a group among you who has believed in that with which I have been sent and a group that has not believed, then be patient until Allah judges between us. And He is the best of judges.”
(7:88) Said the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people, “We will surely evict you, O Shu’aib, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion.” He said, “Even if we were unwilling?”
(7:89) We would have invented against Allah a lie if we returned to your religion after Allah had saved us from it. And it is not for us to return to it except that Allah, our Lord, should will. Our Lord has encompassed all things in knowledge. Upon Allah we have relied. Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision.”
(7:90) Said the eminent ones who disbelieved among his people, “If you should follow Shu’aib, indeed, you would then be losers.”
(7:91) So the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone.
(7:92) Those who denied Shu’aib – it was as though they had never resided there. Those who denied Shu’aib – it was they who were the losers.
(7:93) And he turned away from them and said, “O my people, I had certainly conveyed to you the messages of my Lord and advised you, so how could I grieve for a disbelieving people?”
(7:94) And We sent to no city a prophet [who was denied] except that We seized its people with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves [to Allah ].
(7:95) Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, “Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease.” So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive.
(7:96) And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning.”
(7:97) Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep?
(7:98) Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were at play?
(7:99) Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah ? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people.
(7:100) Has it not become clear to those who inherited the earth after its [previous] people that if We willed, We could afflict them for their sins? But We seal over their hearts so they do not hear.
(7:101) Those cities – We relate to you some of their news. And certainly did their messengers come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in that which they had denied before. Thus does Allah seal over the hearts of the disbelievers.
(7:102) And We did not find for most of them any covenant; but indeed, We found most of them defiantly disobedient.

Hud
(11:84) And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu’aib. He said, “O my people, worship Allah ; you have no deity other than Him. And do not decrease from the measure and the scale. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but indeed, I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing Day.
(11:85) And O my people, give full measure and weight in justice and do not deprive the people of their due and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.
(11:86) What remains [lawful] from Allah is best for you, if you would be believers. But I am not a guardian over you.”
(11:87) They said, “O Shu’aib, does your prayer command you that we should leave what our fathers worship or not do with our wealth what we please? Indeed, you are the forbearing, the discerning!”
(11:88) He said, “O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord and He has provided me with a good provision from Him… ? And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have forbidden you; I only intend reform as much as I am able. And my success is not but through Allah . Upon him I have relied, and to Him I return.
(11:89) And O my people, let not [your] dissension from me cause you to be struck by that similar to what struck the people of Noah or the people of Hud or the people of Salih. And the people of Lot are not from you far away.
(11:90) And ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is Merciful and Affectionate.”
(11:91) They said, “O Shu’aib, we do not understand much of what you say, and indeed, we consider you among us as weak. And if not for your family, we would have stoned you [to death]; and you are not to us one respected.”
(11:92) He said, “O my people, is my family more respected for power by you than Allah? But you put Him behind your backs [in neglect]. Indeed, my Lord is encompassing of what you do.
(11:93) And O my people, work according to your position; indeed, I am working. You are going to know to whom will come a punishment that will disgrace him and who is a liar. So watch; indeed, I am with you a watcher, [awaiting the outcome].”
(11:94) And when Our command came, We saved Shu’aib and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us. And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone
(11:95) As if they had never prospered therein. Then, away with Madyan as Thamud was taken away.

Al-Hijr
(15:75) Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.
(15:76) And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road.
(15:77) Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.
(15:78) And the companions of the thicket (The dwellers of the wooded dales of Madyan) were [also] wrongdoers.
(15:79) So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.
